SEO Case Study 1

Overview
Our client recently launched a brand new ticket affiliate website selling sporting event and concert tickets. Developed prior to the start of their current SEO campaign, they came to us needing to increase their ROI. Their brand new website was receiving very little traffic, only a handful of pages were indexed, the homepage had a PageRank of 0, and the website had no back links.

Objective
The main objective for this client was to increase the website’s visibility across the major search engines, build a strong foundation to start developing long-term traffic improvements, begin driving qualified visitors to their site, and convert as many of their visitors into customers.

Solution
We created a multi-faceted Search Engine Optimization and Marketing campaign to address the site’s lack of exposure. The site was not “SEO Friendly” so our first step was to address all of the SEO road blocks that were hindering the website such as URL structure, website architecture, duplicate and poorly optimized titles, missing H and Alt tags, and lack of optimized content. The second step was to begin a targeted link building campaign to develop the website’s authority. The third step was to implement a local SEM strategy to begin targeting specific geographic areas and sports franchises. Finally, the last step was to integrate an optimized content development strategy to leverage our initial success and target more competitive keyword phrases.

Results
In less than three months, the client’s website homepage went from a PR0 to a PR4. Indexed pages in Google went from 20 to over 2,000. Google backlinks went from 0 to 72 and Yahoo backlinks went from 0 to 163. Traffic has increased over 500% during this time and conversions have gone from 56 in the first month to 229 in the third month.

Overview
Our client a manufacturer of distribution center automation systems contacted us to help them fix various issues they were having with their current website. Over the years, several different web development teams had worked on their website and the code showed it. They needed help cleaning up their website’s code, making sure that the content organization and navigation were consistent across the site, verification that the website rendered properly on all major browsers, and finally, an ongoing SEO strategy and campaign that would improve the traffic and conversions.

Objective
There were two main objectives during the first phase of this project: 1. Fix the numerous content, navigation, and broken link issues on the site, and 2. Begin increasing rankings for target keyword phrases that would in turn, increase website traffic by 50% during the initial three month engagement.

Solution
Since the objective had two pieces, so did the solution. The first part of the solution was a website audit to determine and document every page that either had broken links or that was not consistent with the main theme and navigation of the site. Based on these results, we began a development project to fix all of the main website content and navigation issues. The second part of the solution was a comprehensive SEO campaign that started with a Road Blocks Analysis to determine all of the on page elements that needed immediate attention. Once these had been corrected, we moved on to a link building campaign incorporating content development and optimization.

Results
In only two months, the team at Search Marketing, LLC had fixed all major content issues, broken links, and the distracting inconsistent navigation. These updates resulted in a 50% increase in traffic and a 25% increase in conversions. Of their 20 target keyword phrases, we achieved top 10 results in Google for eight of them and top 20 results for the rest. In addition, indexed pages in Google went from 102 to 156, back links in Google have gone from 3 to 12 and 65 to 294 in Yahoo!.

Overview
Although our client had a content rich website, there was very few indexed pages and very few inbound links resulting in poor rankings for all of their target keyword phrases. They had been spending a great deal of money on PPC with mixed results: the costs of the campaigns kept going up while the number of conversions remained static. They made the decision that improving their website’s organic presence needed to be a priority to help offset the rising costs of their online marketing campaigns. They contacted Search Marketing, LLC to help them optimize their website and develop and ongoing SEO strategy.

Objective
Our first objective was to get every page of their website indexed so that they could begin ranking and driving traffic to many of their long-tail keywords phrases populating their product pages. They ultimately wanted to improve their organic traffic to cut the cost of their online marketing campaign.

Solution
Our solution focused on a two-phased approach: we started as we always do with the SEO Road Blocks analysis to determine what current issues the website had which hindered it from being fully indexed. We performed extensive keyword research and utilized their current PPC data to determine what keywords they should be actively pursuing. The completion of this phase included fixing all of the Road Blocks and optimizing their existing content and on page elements for their new target keyword list. The second phase, or maintenance phase, included active ongoing link building and optimized content development that was incorporated not only on their website but also distributed to other websites, blogs, and article submission sites.

Results
In the first six months, we took this client’s website from 50 indexed pages in Google to 1,560 indexed pages. They went from six Google backlinks to 58. Also, their homepage PageRank went from a PR3 to a PR5. Traffic increased by 130% and conversions increased by 35% during this short time.
